About this role

CARIAN seeks a Distribution Portfolio Review Engineer to evaluate and validate electric distribution capital projects for a major utility client. You'll conduct technical and financial reviews of project proposals, estimates, and changes to ensure alignment with portfolio priorities and investment plans, collaborating across engineering, project management, and finance teams.

What you'll do

  • Review proposed distribution capital projects for technical justification, scope completeness, budget accuracy, and portfolio alignment
  • Evaluate engineering estimates and project documentation to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and execution risks
  • Analyze project change requests and assess their impact on existing and long-range capital portfolios
  • Coordinate with project sponsors, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve review findings and close information gaps
  • Identify opportunities to coordinate or sequence projects to reduce duplication and improve portfolio execution
  • Support capital planning meetings by preparing analyses, recommendations, and project summaries
