About this role

CARIAN, a woman-owned power sector consulting firm, seeks a Transmission Portfolio Engineer to manage and optimize a major utility's transmission capital investment portfolio. You'll coordinate with planning teams, project sponsors, and operations to develop multi-year capital plans, evaluate project feasibility, and support portfolio execution from early planning through project initiation.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain long-range transmission capital portfolios in collaboration with utility planning organizations and project sponsors
  • Support multi-year capital investment planning for transmission lines, substations, and related infrastructure projects
  • Evaluate proposed projects for feasibility, timing, dependencies, budget requirements, and constructability alignment
  • Identify coordination and optimization opportunities to bundle, sequence, or integrate projects across the portfolio
  • Review engineering estimates, project scopes, schedules, and budget requirements for accuracy and completeness
  • Analyze project change requests and assess impacts on existing and long-range portfolio plans
