About this role

Join Cartesian, an MIT-founded startup in Kendall Square, as a software engineering intern during IAP 2027. You'll own a meaningful project—from customer integrations to platform modernization to ML tooling—while working alongside senior engineers in a fast-growing spatial intelligence company serving international retail brands.

What you'll do

  • Own and ship a specific software project over the 4-week internship period
  • Integrate with new customers or modernize core platform infrastructure
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and research teams on technical decisions
  • Iterate rapidly on feedback and learn unfamiliar technologies
  • Write clean, well-tested code for production systems
  • Contribute to infrastructure, security, ML tooling, or frontend features depending on project

What they're looking for

  • Python or backend development with FastAPI
  • Full-stack software engineering (frontend, backend, or both)
  • Database design and optimization with Postgres
  • Kubernetes/cloud infrastructure or Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Mobile development (Android/Kotlin) or frontend (Next.js/TypeScript)
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Experience working in large codebases on a team
