RF Electronics Engineer
About this role
Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks an RF Electronics Engineer to develop and validate the high-power RF systems that will heat plasma in their SPARC fusion reactor. You'll execute hands-on testing from prototype to full-scale operation, integrating RF transmitters with control electronics to support net energy achievement.
What you'll do
- Conduct board-level bring-up and validation of RF and power electronics subsystems
- Operate and troubleshoot high-power RF transmitters delivering >25MW at 120MHz
- Integrate hardware RF systems with software control systems for closed-loop operation
- Design and execute test plans to validate RF plant performance and reliability
- Collaborate with physics and systems teams to ensure RF delivery meets tokamak requirements
- Document test results and support scale-up from benchtop prototypes to production systems
