About this role

Clay is hiring a Software Engineer for Applied AI to develop reliable, production-ready AI agents that execute real go-to-market workflows. You'll collaborate across product and engineering teams to bridge the gap between impressive demos and dependable autonomous systems that users can trust with critical business tasks.

What you'll do

  • Design and iterate on agent behavior for real GTM workflows like market research and lead enrichment
  • Transform manual multi-step processes into autonomous agent-driven workflows
  • Build evaluation frameworks and metrics to measure agent reliability and task completion
  • Develop platform infrastructure including memory systems, tool integration, and retrieval mechanisms
  • Work with product and research teams to ensure agents are steerable and measurably improve user outcomes
  • Debug and improve model behavior in production contexts, not just isolation
