About this role

A seed-stage digital health startup is seeking a Founding Engineer to build an AI-native mobile platform that uses biosignal data and LLM-powered coaching to help users manage chronic symptoms. You'll own full-stack architecture from React Native mobile to AI inference, define engineering culture, and grow into a CTO role.

What you'll do

  • Ship end-to-end v1 AI coaching experience across React Native, backend, and frontier LLM integration
  • Design and build the nervous system training AI coach including model design, prompt engineering, and evaluation pipelines
  • Integrate wearable platforms (Apple Watch, Oura, Whoop, EEG) and process real-time biosignal data (HRV, PPG, breath, motion)
  • Own full-stack technical decisions and architecture across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and AI layers
  • Build AI-powered QA and testing infrastructure to enable safe, rapid daily shipping
  • Define engineering standards, culture, and technical direction as the team scales

What they're looking for

  • React Native with full mobile lifecycle ownership
  • Claude or frontier LLM production experience (prompts, tool use, evaluation)
  • Backend development in Node.js or Python
  • PostgreSQL and modern infrastructure (Vercel, Fly, Render)
  • HealthKit, wearable APIs, and biosignal data processing
  • Full-stack capability across frontend, backend, and AI layers
  • AI infrastructure and AI-native system design
  • Founder mindset and early-stage startup experience
