About this role

Cowboy Space Corp is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of deployable structures for their large solar array. This hands-on role requires ownership of the deployment mechanism, actuation, and structural integrity – from initial concept through on-orbit deployment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, excellent analytical skills, and experience building and testing aerospace hardware.

What you'll do

  • Design and own the deployable structure's mechanism from concept to flight.
  • Analyze deployment kinematics, actuation, and reliability.
  • Perform structural analysis of deployed and stowed structures.
  • Build and operate ground testbeds to validate designs.
  • Design for manufacturability and work with suppliers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve anomalies during testing and integration.
