About this role

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking a Mechanism Engineer Level 1 to contribute to the development of space-based solar energy infrastructure. This hands-on role involves owning a vehicle mechanism subsystem from concept to flight, requiring strong design, analysis, and testing capabilities. You'll collaborate with various engineering teams to ensure mission success, iterating quickly and resolving challenges directly on the factory floor.

What you'll do

  • Own mechanism subsystem through all phases (concept, design, test, flight)
  • Perform structural and kinematic design considering performance, mass, cost, and schedule
  • Conduct analysis using hand calculations, FEA, and validate with testing
  • Define and execute test campaigns, authoring procedures and acceptance criteria
  • Develop engineering drawings and documentation
  • Troubleshoot hardware anomalies and implement design improvements
