About this role
Cowboy Space Corporation seeks an Ordnance Engineer to establish and own all aspects of energetic devices and systems for their space-based solar energy platform. This first-hire role requires building the ordnance foundation from the ground up, encompassing hardware selection, qualification, storage, shipping, and safety compliance. The ideal candidate will define the ordnance architecture, ensuring rigorous testing and adherence to relevant military and regulatory standards.
What you'll do
- Define ordnance architecture for the vehicle's pyrotechnic systems.
- Select, specify, and qualify ordnance hardware (initiators, detonators, etc.).
- Own the energetics side of the initiation chain, including safety analysis.
- Manage hazard classification, explosive storage, and regulatory compliance (ATF, DOT, DESR).
- Oversee qualification campaigns from component to full system levels.
- Develop and document procedures for ordnance handling and execution.
