About this role

DDN seeks an experienced Data Center Lab Engineer to manage and operate an enterprise lab environment with servers, storage systems, networking infrastructure, and power/cooling systems. The role supports product engineering, QA, and benchmarking for DDN storage and AI/HPC solutions across Colorado Springs.

What you'll do

  • Manage daily lab operations including rack assembly, cabling, power distribution, equipment placement, and documentation (rack elevations, power maps, network diagrams)
  • Deploy and maintain enterprise servers, storage arrays, NVMe platforms, GPU systems, and perform hardware diagnostics, firmware updates, and component replacement
  • Install and troubleshoot Ethernet, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, and high-speed cabling; diagnose link failures and optical/transceiver compatibility issues
  • Monitor rack power consumption, manage PDU/UPS connectivity, coordinate cooling and electrical needs, and enforce hot/cold aisle discipline
  • Maintain inventory tracking for servers, storage, disks, cables, optics, and spares; coordinate RMA, vendor engagement, and asset lifecycle management
  • Support engineering and QA teams with hardware setup for development, performance validation, failover testing, and customer issue reproduction

  • BMC/IPMI management tools (iDRAC, iLO, Redfish) and Linux utilities
  • Power management (PDUs, UPS, electrical safety, redundant feeds)
  • Asset inventory and vendor lifecycle management
