About this role
Divergent seeks a Weld Engineer to develop and qualify innovative welded joints for automated, fixtureless assembly in aerospace and defense applications. You will lead weld process development, design joints for various alloys, establish quality controls, and collaborate across engineering teams to bring solutions to production.
What you'll do
- Lead weld technology evaluation, selection, and procurement for multi-component designs
- Design and develop welded joints and process parameters for diverse alloy systems
- Write and implement weld procedures and qualification plans per industry standards
- Perform mechanical testing and metallographic analysis to characterize weld performance
- Establish quality control requirements aligned with aerospace and defense specifications
- Coordinate with automation, design, and manufacturing teams for production implementation
