Semiconductor Device Modeling Engineer
About this role
HRL Laboratories seeks a Device Modeling Engineer to develop computational models for next-generation semiconductor devices, including advanced transistors and quantum qubits. You'll use TCAD and multiphysics simulation tools to predict device performance, interpret experimental data, and collaborate with fabrication and test teams on cutting-edge quantum and classical nanodevices.
What you'll do
- Develop and validate device simulation models using commercial TCAD tools (Sentaurus) and multiphysics software (COMSOL)
- Model semiconductor transport phenomena including semiclassical and quantum effects in advanced transistor architectures
- Analyze electrostatic integrity, thermal response, and strain effects to optimize device performance
- Interpret experimental data and provide feedback to guide fabrication and characterization efforts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate findings through technical presentations and reports
- Design and analyze classical and quantum nanodevices such as semiconductor spin qubits
