Detection Engineer, Protective Services
About this role
DoorDash is hiring a Detection Engineer for Protective Services to build security detection capabilities that identify threats to executives and operations across enterprise, marketplace, physical, and open-source signals. You'll engineer production detections, investigate findings, and continuously improve threat identification using code, queries, and data pipelines in a remote role with on-call responsibilities.
What you'll do
- Build production detections and enrichment pipelines using SQL, Python, or Go that correlate signals across identity, endpoint, cloud, marketplace, physical security, and OSINT sources
- Translate threat intelligence and investigative needs into testable detection hypotheses and deploy them using source-controlled engineering practices
- Investigate detections by querying data, validating hypotheses, and assessing confidence and scope in partnership with Protective Services teams
- Apply statistical methods, machine learning, and LLM techniques to improve detection quality, prioritization, and investigative context
- Participate in on-call rotation, support major investigations, and communicate findings with clear confidence assessments and limitations
- Continuously improve detections using outcomes, false positives, and investigative feedback to strengthen tooling and workflows
