About this role
DoorDash Labs seeks a Senior RF Hardware Engineer to design and validate mission-critical RF/electrical systems for autonomous last-mile delivery platforms. You'll lead RF hardware development across the product lifecycle, from prototyping to production, with expertise in interference mitigation, wireless technologies (LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, GPS, UWB), and system-level optimization.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize RF/mixed-signal PCBAs with focus on interference mitigation and desense analysis
- Conduct lab and OTA testing of RF systems including sensitivity and coexistence evaluations across multiple wireless standards
- Perform electromagnetic simulations using CAD tools (CST, HFSS, ADS) to inform design decisions
- Characterize EMI from internal and external sources through probes, shielding tests, and layout reviews
- Mentor cross-functional teams on EMI mitigation strategies and debug processes
- Communicate technical challenges and trade-offs to engineering and executive stakeholders
What they're looking for
- RF hardware design and validation
- Electromagnetic theory and wireless system design
- LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi, GPS, and UWB technologies
- RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, oscilloscopes)
- EM simulation tools (CST, HFSS, ADS)
- High-speed digital interfaces (MIPI CSI/DSI, PCIe, DDR, SDIO/eMMC)
- Desense mitigation techniques (shielding, grounding, filtering)
- Data analysis and technical reporting
Benefits
- 401(k) plan with employer matching
- 16 weeks of paid parental leave
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 11 paid holidays plus PTO and sick leave
- Equity grant opportunities
- Wellness, commuter benefits, and mental health program
Likely interview questions
- Describe your experience designing RF front-end circuits for mass-produced consumer products and the key design tradeoffs you managed.
- Walk us through a complex desense problem you debugged—what root causes did you identify and how did you validate your mitigation approach?
