DevOps Engineer Intern - Summer 2027
About this role
Join a global DevOps team at a Chicago-based financial services firm as a summer intern, managing Kubernetes infrastructure and platform operations with direct production impact. You'll work on containerization, GitOps workflows, observability, and service migrations while supporting a fast-paced proprietary trading environment.
What you'll do
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes workloads including containers, Pods, Deployments, Services, and storage concepts
- Implement GitOps practices using Argo CD to reconcile infrastructure state from git repositories
- Build and extend observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana dashboards, and alert routing
- Triage production alerts by validating signals, correlating changes, and documenting findings with escalation
- Support platform upgrades for Kubernetes components and controllers following established runbooks
- Assist with migrations of services from bare metal infrastructure to Kubernetes under mentorship
