Software Engineer: Credit Card/Fraud
About this role
Join ether.fi's credit card team as a Backend & Fraud Engineer to build and operate the transaction authorization and fraud prevention systems for a $10B+ crypto finance platform. You'll own both the transaction experience—debugging declines and friction points—and the fraud defense stack, moving from reactive to proactive protection through rules, monitoring, and hands-on investigation.
What you'll do
- Improve card transaction experience by identifying and eliminating root causes of declines, failed authorizations, and user friction
- Hunt fraud and abuse patterns including card testing, cashback farming, friendly fraud, and multi-account rings
- Own the fraud decisioning stack in Sardine, including rules, queues, scoring logic, real-time monitoring, and automated mitigation
- Investigate live fraud cases hands-on: query transaction data, root-cause patterns, and design controls to prevent recurrence
- Build internal tools, dashboards, and scripts to empower risk and customer experience teams
- Collaborate with Product, CX, Compliance, and card program vendors to continuously improve the card product
