About this role
Firecrawl seeks an experienced open source engineer to own the main repository (170k+ stars) and build new parsing primitives like anydoc. You'll handle end-to-end repo maintenance, PR reviews, releases, and documentation while keeping the self-host experience seamless and architecting what makes open source projects scale.
What you'll do
- Own the main Firecrawl repository end to end: triage issues, review PRs, cut releases, and maintain documentation
- Ensure the self-host experience remains simple and reliable for users cloning and deploying the project
- Design and build new context primitives, starting with anydoc document parsing engine
- Make architectural decisions on API design and scope for new primitives
- Ship code and conduct code reviews weekly as a hands-on engineering role
- Think strategically about what drives open source adoption and organic project growth
