Chief Engineer, MV Switchgear
About this role
Lead the design and development of Fluidstack's proprietary metal-clad MV switchgear platform from concept through production release and full type-testing. You'll own all engineering decisions, manage a dedicated team, and execute comprehensive IEEE compliance testing campaigns to support 10+ GW of annual data center capacity.
What you'll do
- Own clean-sheet design of metal-clad MV switchgear platform with purchased vacuum breaker elements
- Lead type-test campaigns covering short-circuit, internal arc, BIL, and temperature rise per IEEE C37.20.2 and C37.09
- Direct engineering team through design, testing, compliance, and production release phases
- Define platform ratings ladder, protection schemes, IED integration, and racking architecture
- Execute redesign loops following test failures and drive product to market-ready state
- Establish insulation coordination, bus bracing, creepage/clearance standards, and third-party component integration
