About this role

Zipline is seeking a motivated Controls Engineer Intern to contribute to the development and improvement of flight control systems for their autonomous drone delivery service. This summer internship offers a unique opportunity to work on real-world challenges, analyze flight data, and directly see your contributions impact the performance and reliability of their aircraft. You'll collaborate with a team to refine algorithms, build testing tools, and enhance simulation capabilities.

What you'll do

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of flight algorithms.
  • Develop tools and tests for performance demonstration and regression prevention.
  • Improve simulation tools for predicting vehicle performance.
  • Analyze flight data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Design onboard integrity tests to detect system degradation.
  • Present findings and changes to the engineering team.
