Mechanical Engineer
About this role
Formic seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design, document, and commission electromechanical automation systems—from concept through SolidWorks modeling to floor deployment. You'll own end-to-end mechanical design of palletizing, case packing, and material handling systems while supporting product development and field commissioning for Formic's robotics-as-a-service platform.
What you'll do
- Design automation systems and end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) from concept through SolidWorks CAD release and BOM management
- Develop and maintain organized SolidWorks model structures, assembly hierarchies, and controlled drawing release processes
- Build, integrate, and commission electromechanical systems on the floor, ensuring design validation and production readiness
- Create detailed mechanical documentation including CAD models, drawings, SOPs, and work instructions for operations teams
- Lead assigned automation projects within the product roadmap, managing milestones and technical specifications
- Collaborate with Project Engineering, Software, and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and optimize deployed systems
