Robotics Field Service Engineer
About this role
Formic seeks a Robotics Field Service Engineer to provide front-line technical support for deployed robotic manufacturing systems across customer facilities. You'll diagnose failures, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, restore production uptime, and drive fleet reliability while working directly with plant teams in high-accountability manufacturing environments.
What you'll do
- Perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance on deployed robotic manufacturing cells
- Respond to remote and on-site escalations, diagnose root causes, and restore systems to production quickly
- Provide hands-on technical support to customer operators and maintenance teams
- Document service activity, root cause analysis, and maintenance logs in CMMS systems
- Monitor system performance using Formic dashboards and identify recurring failure patterns
- Coordinate field scheduling with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders while maintaining safety compliance
What they're looking for
- Troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, PLC, and robotic control systems
- Reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings
- CMMS platform operation and maintenance documentation
- 6-axis robot brands (Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa, ABB, Universal Robots preferred)
- Industrial automation systems and conveyor/palletizing systems knowledge
- Root cause analysis and structured problem-solving
- Safety compliance including LOTO and industrial standards
- Clear technical communication and documentation skills
