About this role

Formlabs seeks an AI Software Intern to develop machine learning and computer vision solutions for 3D printing and additive manufacturing. You'll prototype intelligent algorithms for spatial data analysis, optimize inference performance, and collaborate with software engineering teams to advance automated part preparation and manufacturing monitoring systems.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement machine learning models for 3D spatial data, geometric analysis, and automated print workflows
  • Develop real-time computer vision pipelines and time-series analysis for defect detection and system monitoring
  • Profile and optimize model architectures for fast, resource-efficient inference in desktop and cloud environments
  • Collaborate with software engineers to translate research concepts into functional, production-ready prototypes
  • Handle unstructured datasets including point clouds, meshes, and voxel grids
  • Work on intelligent algorithms that advance automated part preparation and manufacturing success rates
