Additive Engineer (New Grad December 2026)
About this role
Freeform seeks a new graduate mechanical or aerospace engineer to support the development and optimization of autonomous metal 3D printing systems. You'll own projects across the full production lifecycle—from design feedback and file preparation through printing, testing, and delivery—while collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance printing capabilities and serve major manufacturing customers.
What you'll do
- Partner with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to automate and scale the metal 3D printing process
- Execute complete print production workflows including DFAM guidance, file prep, printing, post-processing, and quality verification
- Analyze sensor data and printed parts to identify improvement opportunities and drive continuous refinement
- Apply first-principles analysis to define test methods, evaluate solutions, and recommend technical approaches
- Communicate with customers about Freeform's capabilities and guide them on design optimization for additive manufacturing
- Document requirements, procedures, and action items to align internal and external stakeholders
