Manufacturing Development Engineer
About this role
Freeform seeks a Manufacturing Development Engineer to design novel processes, tooling, and fixtures for geometrically complex metal parts at production scale. You'll work in a greenfield environment building manufacturing systems that don't yet exist, balancing precision with speed in a fast-moving hardware company.
What you'll do
- Design and implement scalable manufacturing processes for new hardware in collaboration with senior engineers
- Create tooling, jigs, and fixtures that enable reliable, high-throughput production
- Develop and refine test procedures and post-processing workflows to optimize part flow
- Establish lightweight documentation and process standards that support scaling without impeding iteration
- Identify factory bottlenecks and inefficiencies; work cross-functionally to resolve them
- Transition new processes from R&D into production with the production team
