Materials Engineer (New Grad December 2026)
About this role
Freeform seeks a new graduate materials engineer to support the development of materials and processes infrastructure for advanced metal 3D printing systems. You'll conduct hands-on testing, analyze material properties, and collaborate with senior engineers to drive process improvements in an AI-native manufacturing environment.
What you'll do
- Establish and maintain M&P best practices and materials testing infrastructure
- Operate characterization equipment to measure tensile strength, surface roughness, and microstructure
- Track quality metrics of printed parts including dimensional accuracy and defect distribution
- Analyze data and present findings to inform process optimization
- Partner with process development teams to integrate materials insights into printing process improvements
- Support automation initiatives for materials and processes procedures
