About this role

General Matter, a venture-backed nuclear fuel enrichment company, seeks an early-career Mechanical Engineer to design and own mechanical systems for uranium enrichment technology. You'll work hands-on across the full product lifecycle—from concept through testing and deployment—collaborating with a multidisciplinary engineering team in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

What you'll do

  • Design and own mechanical structures and mechanisms for enrichment systems through requirements, development, qualification, and production release
  • Optimize designs for cost, performance, and manufacturability
  • Conduct functional testing including thermal, vibration, shock, and durability analysis
  • Perform root-cause analysis on test failures and develop hardware mitigations
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical feedback
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, manufacturing, and nuclear engineers on system integration
