About this role

Design and develop optomechanical systems and precision structures for advanced uranium enrichment technology, managing them through the complete product lifecycle from requirements through production. You'll work across cross-functional teams to solve complex mechanical challenges in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment focused on making nuclear energy affordable.

What you'll do

  • Design and own precision mounts, alignment stages, beam delivery paths, and optical/photonic subsystem enclosures for enrichment hardware
  • Select and specify materials and coatings based on mechanical, thermal, optical, and corrosion/wear performance requirements
  • Conduct functional testing including thermal, vibration, shock, durability, and precision alignment/beam stability testing
  • Perform root-cause analysis on test failures and develop hardware mitigations
  • Collaborate with materials scientists to characterize material behavior under process-relevant conditions and inform design decisions
  • Optimize designs for cost, performance, and manufacturability while coordinating with cross-functional engineering teams
