Automation Engineer
About this role
GenScript seeks an Automation Engineer to design and maintain high-throughput lab automation systems for biomanufacturing. You'll develop new workflows, troubleshoot complex instrumentation, and coordinate technology transfer across teams at their Piscataway, NJ facility.
What you'll do
- Design and implement new automation workflows for high-throughput biomanufacturing operations
- Maintain and upgrade existing automation methods and integrated systems
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance for lab instruments and automation equipment
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, software, and system integration issues to minimize downtime
- Manage project timelines and coordinate internal resources
- Communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful technology transfer

- Liquid handling instrumentation (Tecan Fluent, Hamilton STAR)
- Automation scripting/protocol writing (Tecan, Hamilton, Thermo Momentum Scheduler)
- Mechanical and systems troubleshooting
- Equipment communication and networking (TCP/IP, serial communication)
- Laboratory automation systems operation
- Project management and timeline coordination
- Technical communication and documentation
- Programming or scripting (preferred)
