About this role
GuidePoint Security seeks a Vectra Detection Engineer to develop and maintain network-based threat detection capabilities for federal customers. You'll analyze network traffic, create security signatures, conduct threat hunting, and collaborate with data scientists to enhance AI-driven detection systems across network, cloud, and hybrid environments.
What you'll do
- Implement and maintain detection architecture for network security
- Analyze network traffic to identify and document threat patterns
- Develop and maintain security signatures using Suricata and similar tools
- Simulate attacks using offensive security techniques to generate test traffic
- Collaborate with data scientists to improve AI-driven detection accuracy
- Monitor and tune detection effectiveness; participate in threat hunting and incident response
