About this role

Hadrian seeks an Automation & Robotics System Engineer to design, commission, and optimize automation systems for additive manufacturing cells in aerospace and defense production. You'll own the full lifecycle from safety architecture and powder handling to acceptance testing and reliability programs across multiple factory deployments.

What you'll do

  • Design and commission automation for AM cell workflows including powder handling, build plate exchange, depowdering, and post-processing logistics
  • Establish and validate safety architecture for AM cells, including risk assessment, guarding, and emergency interlock logic per aerospace/defense standards
  • Engineer combustible dust controls and inert gas handling per NFPA 484 in coordination with EHS and Materials teams
  • Define mechanical, electrical, and data interface requirements and integrate with machine control and platform layers
  • Execute Factory and Site Acceptance Tests with performance criteria tied to cycle time, throughput, and reliability
  • Drive reliability programs, preventive maintenance schedules, bottleneck elimination, and standardize designs for redeployment across facilities
