About this role

Join Hadrian as a Machine Controls & Data Integration System Engineer to design and operate the connectivity, data pipelines, and control systems across our autonomous additive manufacturing fleet. You'll own the integration layer connecting PC-based and PLC-based machines to higher-level software platforms, establish canonical data models, and ensure end-to-end traceability for aerospace and defense production.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain the connectivity layer across the AM fleet, including machine control systems, PLC subsystems, and vendor interfaces with custom data extraction
  • Design and own canonical data schemas, tag dictionaries, naming conventions, and versioning to support scalable integration across platforms and sites
  • Architect and operate telemetry and build data pipelines with guaranteed uptime, backfill capability, and data integrity for qualification evidence
  • Define machine state models, control interfaces, and data requirements; flow them down to OEMs and verify compliance through interface control documents
  • Support commissioning, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) to ensure machines meet Hadrian integration standards
  • Establish and maintain OEM technical relationships covering interface access, firmware management, and adherence to agreed interface requirements

  • OPC-UA and MQTT industrial machine communication protocols
  • PLC programming (Siemens S7 and TIA Portal preferred)
  • Relational database design and SQL; time-series or historian storage systems
  • Data pipeline design and operation (message transport, stream/batch processing, monitoring)
  • Proprietary OEM interface integration and reverse engineering of undocumented systems
  • PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, MTConnect, and REST APIs
  • NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC compliance frameworks
  • Structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, corrective action)
