Systems Engineer, Mechanical Design
About this role
Hadrian seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to lead the design and deployment of factory automation equipment that bridges manufacturing processes with core operations. You'll own equipment solutions from concept through production acceptance, working across mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced aerospace and defense manufacturing environment.
What you'll do
- Define equipment and area design requirements, navigating technical unknowns from initial conception
- Lead cross-functional teams through full design lifecycle, owning requirements and driving phase gates
- Establish frameworks for how Hadrian develops, designs, builds, and deploys internally developed equipment
- Partner with Factory Development and Production teams to ensure turn-key system deployment and operation
- Own project outcomes by identifying and solving problems across teams
- Conduct risk assessments, specification creation, design reviews, and build cycle management

- Mechanical CAD design (SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent)
- Automated industrial equipment design and deployment

- PLC and motion control systems
- Pneumatics, hydraulics, and manufacturing process knowledge
- Robotics experience
