Harbinger Motors Inc.
Design Release Engineer, Frame
About this role
Harbinger seeks a Design Release Engineer to lead frame structural design, CAD modeling, and supplier management for medium-duty electric vehicles. You'll own the complete lifecycle of frame hardware—from 3D packaging and manufacturing coordination through engineering releases and validation support—while driving aggressive timelines for prototype and production builds.
What you'll do
- Lead 3D CAD modeling, packaging, and structural integration of frame rails, crossmembers, brackets, and subframes using CATIA
- Manage supplier relationships for stampings, forgings, and weldments; guide DFM improvements and verify quality/corrosion standards
- Own engineering change orders (ECOs/ECRs) and maintain mechanical BOMs in PLM systems throughout hardware lifecycle
- Support structural validation by reviewing FEA results and coordinating durability testing (rig, track, safety); perform root-cause analysis on failures
- Develop and execute aggressive project schedules for long-lead tooling and prototype builds; identify and mitigate critical path risks
- Lead cross-functional design reviews with powertrain, thermal, high/low voltage, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration
What they're looking for
- CATIA V5/V6 CAD modeling and 3D design
- PLM/BOM management (Teamcenter, Enovia, Arena, or equivalent)
- Structural mechanics and materials (high-strength steel, aluminum)
- GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and geometric dimensioning
- Automotive manufacturing processes (stampings, extrusions, castings, welding, e-coat)
- Supplier management and vendor accountability
- FEA/CAE interpretation and durability testing support
- Project scheduling and critical path analysis
