Mission Software Engineer - San Diego

About this role

Havoc is seeking a Mission Software Engineer to develop and deploy autonomous systems software for military and commercial applications across sea, air, and land domains. You'll own end-to-end solutions for mission-critical deployments, collaborating across teams to build real-world autonomous capabilities that operate in contested environments.

What you'll do

• Own software solutions deployed to customers and ensure they meet mission objectives
• Develop software enhancements for autonomous systems to address specific operational needs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality
• Create performance metrics and monitor deployed systems for debugging
• Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and coordinate resolutions
• Partner with customers to translate operational needs into features

What they're looking for

• C++, Python, or Rust in Linux environments
• Data processing and analysis
• Complex systems and codebase navigation
• ROS or MOOS-IvP frameworks (preferred)
• Robotics and multi-agent autonomous systems
• Flight systems and safety-critical software (preferred)
• Distributed communication networks
• Military systems knowledge (preferred)
