Mission Software Engineer - San Diego
About this role
Havoc is seeking a Mission Software Engineer to develop and deploy autonomous systems software for military and commercial applications across sea, air, and land domains. You'll own end-to-end solutions for mission-critical deployments, collaborating across teams to build real-world autonomous capabilities that operate in contested environments.
What you'll do
- Own software solutions deployed to customers and ensure they meet mission objectives
- Develop software enhancements for autonomous systems to address specific operational needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality
- Create performance metrics and monitor deployed systems for debugging
- Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and coordinate resolutions
- Partner with customers to translate operational needs into features

- C++, Python, or Rust in Linux environments
- Data processing and analysis
- Complex systems and codebase navigation
- ROS or MOOS-IvP frameworks (preferred)
- Robotics and multi-agent autonomous systems
- Flight systems and safety-critical software (preferred)
- Distributed communication networks
- Military systems knowledge (preferred)
