Systems Engineer III (Research)

San Francisco, CaliforniaFrom $150kmidAdded today

About this role

Heartflow seeks a Systems Engineer III to design and execute research data pipelines that power algorithm development for their AI-driven cardiac diagnostic platform. You'll own data campaigns from conception through delivery, ensuring high-quality, well-documented datasets by managing annotation workflows, coordinating cross-functional teams, and applying rigorous quality standards.

What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end data campaigns: define labeling objectives, annotation schemas, sample selection, and acceptance criteria in collaboration with data and research scientists
  • Design and manage annotation workflows, select tooling, and build scalable processes for ingestion, validation, format mapping, and delivery
  • Define quality metrics, monitor data reliability, distinguish annotation noise from clinical disagreement, and deliver quality reports
  • Partner across teams (Data Science, Research, Product, Clinical, Regulatory) to translate research needs into documented datasets and auditable records
  • Translate research initiatives into clear data requirements including target populations, modalities, labels, and timelines; identify gaps and coordinate priorities
  • Promote systems engineering best practices and improve data and research processes across the organization

What they're looking for

  • Data pipeline design and management
  • Medical imaging (DICOM) and annotation workflows
  • Quality assurance and reproducibility methods (inter-rater agreement, error detection)
  • Cross-functional program coordination and delivery
  • Systems engineering and requirements analysis
  • Data tooling and workflow automation
  • Regulated environment experience (medical devices/imaging)
  • Research project planning and execution
