Data Center Engineer
About this role
Join IMC Trading as a Data Center Engineer managing physical server infrastructure, network hardware, and IT components across colocation facilities in the Secaucus, NJ area. You'll handle installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of data center equipment while supporting financial markets operations.
What you'll do
- Oversee lifecycle management of physical servers, network devices, and IT infrastructure components
- Install, configure, and maintain server and network hardware in data centers
- Design rack layouts, cabling schemes, and coordinate patching schedules for optimal operations
- Diagnose hardware issues, manage RMA processes, and coordinate vendor repairs
- Manage hardware inventory, shipments, and maintain accurate infrastructure documentation
- Maintain relationships with vendors, colocation partners, and remote hands teams
What they're looking for
- Data center engineering (5+ years)
- Server hardware and network device expertise
- Network cabling, fiber optics, and optical transceivers
- Fiber optic testing and cleaning
- Linux operating systems and networking protocols
- Racking, cabling, and facilities management tools
- Bash and Python scripting (preferred)
- Physical capability to lift equipment up to 60 pounds
