About this role
Join Google's Intrinsic robotics team as a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop intelligent industrial automation systems and custom end-of-arm tooling. You'll lead the full design lifecycle from concept through implementation, working across robotic workcells, structural analysis, and component integration while collaborating with cross-functional teams and industry partners.
What you'll do
- Design and build robotic automation systems and custom end-of-arm tooling from concept to deployment
- Create detailed manufacturing drawings and technical documentation for internal teams and external system integrators
- Perform structural analysis and component selection to ensure scalable, cost-effective automation solutions
- Establish standards for mechanical hardware and component specifications across projects
- Collaborate with research groups, product managers, software developers and industry partners on workcell implementation
- Identify and integrate emerging technologies into automation systems while managing vendor relationships

- 3D CAD modeling (Autodesk Inventor preferred) with PDM/PLM and AutoCAD proficiency
