About this role
Layer Health, an AI healthcare startup founded by MIT and Harvard researchers, seeks an experienced EHR Integration Engineer to design and maintain scalable integrations between their AI platform and major EHR systems like EPIC and Cerner. You'll leverage expertise in FHIR, HL7, and healthcare interoperability standards to ensure seamless data flow across clinical systems.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain integrations with EPIC, Cerner, PACS, and other EHR systems
- Troubleshoot integration issues and resolve production problems to maintain data flow
- Test and validate EHR integrations thoroughly
- Document integration processes and technical workflows
- Communicate project status, blockers, and ideas across teams and with clients
- Proactively coordinate with team members and healthcare clients
What they're looking for
- 5+ years integration or software engineering experience
- 2+ years integrating third-party vendors with EPIC using FHIR
- Python programming
- Healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7v2, SMART on FHIR)
- Solution design and system development methodologies
- Cloud and SaaS technologies
- Production troubleshooting and complex problem-solving
- Client communication and technical writing
