Electro-Optic Link Hardware Engineer
About this role
Lightmatter seeks a hands-on Electro-Optic Link Hardware Engineer to lead verification and characterization of high-speed photonic links in advanced data center systems. You'll own link budget methodology, conduct bench measurements, debug complex signal integrity issues, and mentor engineers while driving architectural tradeoffs based on experimental findings.
What you'll do
- Conduct hands-on lab characterization and debugging of high-speed electrical/optical hardware with novel failure modes
- Build and correlate system-level electrical/optical/EO channel models with bench measurements
- Own link budget and verification methodology while performing validation measurements
- Characterize eye diagrams, BER, jitter, equalization, and channel impairments
- Support silicon bring-up and root-cause analysis across analog, package, PCB, and SerDes teams
- Develop automation tools and frameworks to accelerate characterization workflows

- EDA tools (ADS, HFSS, Cadence, COMSOL)
