About this role

Lightmatter seeks an embedded software engineer to develop control and diagnostics firmware for photonic interconnect products in their Boston headquarters. You'll implement laser stabilization algorithms, manage transceiver telemetry, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring next-generation data center AI infrastructure to market.

What you'll do

  • Implement laser control and stabilization algorithms on embedded systems using control theory approaches
  • Develop and own firmware components for photonic transceiver diagnostics, telemetry, and monitoring from requirements through release
  • Integrate transceiver management with data center standards like CMIS, OpenBMC, and DMTF
  • Debug embedded systems using GDB, JTAG, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes during hardware bring-up
  • Characterize laser behavior with optical test equipment and build automated test scripts
  • Contribute to architecture discussions with photonic, analog, digital, and systems engineers
