Infrastructure Engineer, On-Prem Systems
About this role
Design and deliver production-ready on-premises systems for advanced manufacturing inspection hardware. You'll architect complete appliances from bare metal to Kubernetes, own engineering documentation and deployment workflows, and partner across manufacturing and field operations to scale from prototypes to production.
What you'll do
- Design high-performance on-prem compute, storage, networking, and power infrastructure with proper rack layout
- Prototype, benchmark, and profile system performance including throughput, bandwidth, and resource contention
- Create comprehensive hardware/software BOMs, wiring diagrams, network plans, and provisioning documentation for manufacturing handoff
- Harden appliances for security with encryption, network segmentation, firewall policies, and air-gap-resilient update mechanisms
- Manage Kubernetes deployments on fixed capacity with proper node pools, storage, and database service configurations
- Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and field services to transition prototypes to repeatable products and incorporate field feedback into roadmap

- Ansible configuration management and infrastructure automation
- Networking fundamentals (VLANs, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, firewalls, link aggregation)
- Kubernetes on fixed capacity environments
- Scripting and infrastructure-as-code practices
