About this role
Lydian seeks a coatings engineer/scientist co-op to develop and scale coating materials for sustainable aviation fuel production. You'll formulate slurries, apply coatings to ceramic substrates, and optimize manufacturing processes to enable pilot-scale demonstrations in a hands-on lab environment.
What you'll do
- Develop and characterize slurry coatings with various powders, binders, and rheology modifiers
- Apply coatings to monolith substrates and evaluate loading, uniformity, adhesion, and thermal stability
- Scale-up formulations from lab samples to full-size catalyst monolith parts
- Collaborate with automotive catalyst suppliers on scalable manufacturing techniques and process transfer
- Perform advanced material characterization using microscopy, XRD, surface area analysis, and thermal testing
- Build and maintain coating and materials test equipment; document procedures and communicate findings
