Mountain View, CA$120k–$475kfull-timemidAdded today

About this role

MatX seeks an experienced SIPI Characterization Engineer to own electrical validation of high-speed SerDes interfaces and power delivery networks for AI accelerator systems. You'll build scalable test automation infrastructure, perform hands-on characterization across thousands of channels, and partner with design teams to optimize hardware from concept through production.

What you'll do

  • Characterize high-speed SerDes interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, custom protocols) including BER testing, eye diagrams, and PVT analysis
  • Measure and analyze power rail transient noise, voltage droop, and PDN impedance on complex accelerator systems
  • Architect scalable test automation frameworks for EDVT covering thousands of SerDes channels using Python and lab instruments
  • Develop correlation methodologies between simulation predictions and measured results to improve modeling accuracy
  • Collaborate with SIPI and board design teams on package optimization, PCB stackup, trace routing, and decoupling strategies
  • Provide characterization data and actionable recommendations to influence design rules and future silicon revisions

What they're looking for

  • High-speed SerDes architecture and PHY layer fundamentals
  • Transmission line theory and impedance matching
  • Power delivery network (PDN) design principles
  • Lab equipment proficiency (oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNAs, TDR)
  • Python scripting for test automation
  • Data pipeline development and statistical analysis
  • PCB layout review and advanced package design
  • JEDEC and PCIe compliance testing methodologies

Benefits

  • Equity compensation with flexible cash mix
  • Company-subsidized health, dental, vision, and life insurance
