Software Engineer II
About this role
Alarm.com is seeking a Software Engineer II to design and develop backend services, APIs, and event-driven workflows for their device integration platform serving millions of smart home and business users. You'll work across the full development lifecycle with guidance from senior engineers, taking ownership of well-scoped features while growing expertise in distributed systems and IoT integrations.
What you'll do
- Design and implement backend components, APIs, and event-driven workflows (Kafka-based) that are reliable and maintainable
- Write high-quality, well-tested production code and participate in design reviews with senior engineers
- Debug production issues and implement fixes that improve long-term system stability
- Contribute to observability by implementing logging, metrics, and alerting for services
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with Product Managers, TPMs, and cross-functional teams
- Identify opportunities to improve code quality, reliability, and contribute to documentation and best practices

- .NET/C# and SQL Server (strongly preferred)
