Data Platform Engineer
About this role
Mercor seeks a Data Platform Engineer to own the foundational infrastructure powering the company's data operations, including Snowflake, Fivetran, Airflow, and Hex. You'll establish data governance standards, manage access controls, ensure pipeline reliability, and architect scalable data systems as a key hire on a new platform team.
What you'll do
- Architect and maintain data organization in Snowflake with clear ownership models across teams and projects
- Design and implement role-based access controls, row-level security, and PII masking policies at scale
- Migrate data from multiple vendor and internal sources into properly governed systems
- Own Fivetran connector health, Airflow pipeline reliability, and Hex dashboard governance including on-call responsibilities
- Monitor Snowflake warehouse performance and optimize costs
- Build and maintain CDC/streaming ingestion systems and internal data platform tooling

- Snowflake administration (roles, grants, warehouses, cost tuning)
- Data governance and access control design (RBAC, row-level security)
- SQL and Python programming
- Fivetran, Airflow/Astronomer platform expertise
- CDC/streaming pipelines (Debezium, Kafka, Snowpipe Streaming)
- Data migration and production system re-architecting
- Infrastructure fluency and on-call operations
- Delivery semantics and pipeline partitioning knowledge
