Muon Space

GNC Hardware Engineer

Mountain View, CA$157k–$179kfull-timemidAdded today

About this role

Muon Space seeks a GNC hardware engineer to design, evaluate, and optimize spacecraft attitude control systems. You'll manage the full lifecycle of sensors and actuators—from trade studies and component selection through integration, testing, and on-orbit support—while collaborating across electrical, software, and thermal teams.

What you'll do

  • Conduct trade-space analysis for GNC sensors and actuators against power, cost, performance, and operational requirements
  • Characterize hardware performance and cross-system interactions; build and validate simulation models
  • Design and execute test plans for component and integrated system verification, qualification, and acceptance
  • Perform trade studies to inform spacecraft sensor and actuator configuration
  • Manage vendor relationships and supply chain coordination with the Supply Chain team
  • Monitor on-orbit GNC hardware performance, support anomaly resolution, and participate in on-call rotations

What they're looking for

  • Spacecraft attitude sensors and actuators
  • Trade-space and trade-study analysis
  • MATLAB or Python simulation modeling
  • Hardware testing and verification (component and system-level)
  • Systems integration and cross-functional collaboration
  • Mechatronics or hands-on hardware prototyping
  • Technical communication and presentation
  • ITAR compliance awareness

Benefits

  • Equity compensation
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Three weeks paid vacation plus 12 paid holidays
  • Unlimited sick time and paid parental leave
  • Short and long-term disability and life insurance
