Software Engineer - Auth0/AuthZ (Java)
About this role
New Relic seeks a Java-focused Software Engineer to build and operate the authentication and authorization platform that underpins all user access across the company. You'll own critical systems including SSO, OAuth2/OIDC token management, session lifecycle, and fine-grained access controls at enterprise scale, plus participate in on-call rotations to keep these foundational services reliable.
What you'll do
- Design and operate authentication services including SAML/OIDC SSO, OAuth2 token issuance, session management, and fraud defense for direct and enterprise customers
- Develop internal APIs and tooling for other engineering teams to manage user data and access controls
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, security issues, and data integrity problems in authentication/authorization systems
- Participate in on-call rotation to triage production incidents and create runbooks for common issues
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to address complex access control use cases
- Maintain system reliability through dependency updates, vulnerability remediation, and observability improvements
