About this role

Nuro is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop safety-critical software for autonomous vehicle controllers. You'll design and implement embedded C code for multicore automotive microcontrollers, integrate the Nuro Driver platform with new vehicles, and help bring real self-driving cars to public roads.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, and test embedded C software for safety-critical automotive microcontrollers including RTOS, drivers, schedulers, and application components
  • Integrate the Nuro Driver with new vehicle platforms by defining and implementing CAN/Ethernet interfaces and validating them on test benches and in vehicles
  • Participate in hands-on device and vehicle bring-up, prototyping, and debugging across multiple platforms from initial power-on through autonomous operation
  • Build and maintain verification infrastructure including unit tests, hardware-in-the-loop benches, and vehicle test procedures
  • Work within ISO 26262 functional safety processes to define requirements, implement, and verify software with full traceability
  • Collaborate with systems, safety, hardware, controls, autonomy engineers, and OEM/supplier partners throughout development and verification

What they're looking for

  • Embedded C software development
  • Real-time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Microcontroller internals and peripherals
  • CAN and automotive Ethernet protocols
  • Device driver development or bootloader experience
  • Hardware debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, CAN tools)
  • ISO 26262 functional safety
  • Concurrent programming and software architecture
