About this role

Nuro seeks a Software Engineer to join the Performance team focused on optimizing autonomous vehicle software for speed, safety, and efficiency. You'll design systems for performance analysis, memory management, and resource optimization while collaborating across teams to build high-performance libraries and tools for the Nuro Driver platform.

What you'll do

  • Profile, debug, and optimize autonomous vehicle software performance across different compute architectures
  • Design and develop memory management, thread prioritization, and process lifetime management systems
  • Build core libraries and APIs enabling autonomy engineers to write high-performance code
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system-level architecture and performance requirements
  • Drive latency reduction and resource efficiency initiatives for current and future AV platforms
  • Promote performance best practices and optimization techniques across the organization

  • C++ proficiency and system fundamentals
  • Computer architecture and operating systems knowledge
  • Multi-threaded and concurrent programming
  • Performance profiling tools (perf, VTune, BPF, Nvidia Nsight Systems)
  • Software porting across x86, ARM, GPUs, and SoCs
  • GPU programming (CUDA, OpenCL) preferred
  • Low-level optimization and driver development
  • ROS or Nvidia DriveOS experience preferred
