Mechanical Design Engineer - Fuel Manufacturing
About this role
Oklo seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems for advanced reactor fuel fabrication facilities. You'll own design solutions from concept through fabrication readiness, working cross-functionally with analysis teams and vendors while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
What you'll do
- Design and develop equipment and mechanical components for fuel fabrication facilities using CAD tools
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define design requirements and ensure regulatory compliance
- Conduct design reviews, evaluate mechanical designs, and propose solutions to identified deficiencies
- Generate 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and bills of materials using PDM/PLM systems
- Coordinate with analysis teams to guide thermal, structural, fatigue, and safety analyses
- Perform manufacturability reviews, tolerance studies, and DFM/DFA assessments with fabrication partners
